BT have announced activation date - see news page for detail.

We have done it. In only six weeks from the launch of this web site, we have reached the required target of 250 registrations.

Please continue to register until such time as we receive official notification from BT that we have achieved our target. If there are any duplicate entries still within the registrations they need to be removed and the figures re-adjusted. Also, it cannot hurt to have more than the required minimum figure.

I will continue to update the web site for some time yet, letting you know when we have completion dates for the work required to up date the exchange, etc. so don't forget to pop back in every now and then to check progress. With any luck, the service will be available before the end of October.

A big thanks to everyone who has taken the time to register their details. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to help us increase the figures and to those people who sent in the encouraging emails.

And a very special thank you to my better half, who took the time and the shoe leather to help me perform the half marathon delivering fliers.

The aim of this website is to give all local residents a chance to keep up to date on the campaigns progress and to provide more info on just what Broadband is and what it can do for you.

At the start of May this year, BT updated the status of the Beamish exchange, finaly giving us a target level of 300 registrations before they will upgrade the exchange to Broadband. Lucky for us, this how now been reduced to 250 registration, giving our figures a much needed boost.

We now have 100% of the necessary registrations to achieve our goal. I would like to thank everybody who has put the effort into registering so far, without you we would still be without a target figure. This is the reason for the website, I'm sure that most of you early registers also feel it has been dragging on for a long time. With a little luck, we may just get this wrapped up within 3 months. The indicator on the right should keep up to date with the status of things.
